Anele Rusi is a new playwright who has come through the Artscape Black Playwrights’ Forum, which is overseen by Fatima Dike and Roy Sargeant. The Forum seeks to identify and develop new Black playwrights in a measured and caring way. Past productions that have emerged out of the Forum have been Themba Tsotsi’s The Living and Sinethemba Twani’s The Beneficiary. iSystem: A policeman is accused of shooting an unarmed bystander. The Internal Police Investigation Directorate inquiry that follows reveals not only the cracks in his psyche, but those in the “system” he risks his life for. Anele Rusi’s play confronts the devastating issues of police corruption fearlessly and without favour. iSystem is directed by Fatima Dike and features highly talented and popular cast members Sizwe Msutu, Thembani Luzipho, Riaan Visman, Zondwa Njokweni and Stefan Erasmus, with designs by Willem Breyl. The play has been running since November 11th and ends this Saturday 30th November 2013. Five double tickets are up for grabs. The 5 double tickets are for tomorrow nights performance at the Artscape Arena, which starts at 19:30.
