“Angel On Assignment” (Isaiah 37:36-38) “It’s very important to know and understand the ministry of the angels so we can cooperate with them. They are in assignment particularly to answer the prayers of God people fulfilling His will. Our text for today is found in the Book of Isaiah chapter thirty-seven and verses thirty-six to thrity-eight; “And the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. Then Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home and lived at Nineveh. And as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, struck him down with the sword. And after they escaped into the land of Ararat, Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.” The background of this event was when Sennacherib king of Assyria wanted to invade the nation of Judah and threatened them. But King Hezekiah prayed after knowing this bad news, and the Lord sent His Prophet Isaiah to comfort him by telling him about what the Lord will do to their enemies. And as answers to the prayer of King Hezekiah God sent His angel and killed 185,000 soldiers in the camp of the Assyrians. This is the assignment of the warring angels to kill the enemies of God’s people in answer to their prayers. Sila ang pinapadala ng Diyos upang protektahan ang mga anak ng Diyos at pagpapatayin ang mga kalaban. Hindi lang active ang mga anghel sa Lumang Tipan, maging sa Bagong Tipan hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay gumagawa parin sila para sa mga tinubos. Ito ang sinabi ng Aklat ng Hebreo; “And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation.” (Hebrews 1:13-14) Makikita rin natin sa ministry ni Jesus mula sa mount of temptation hangang sa Garden ng Gethsemane ay naroon ang pagsama ng anghel kay Hesus. “Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to Him.” (Matthew 4:11) “And he withdrew from them about a stones throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke 22:41-44) We can also see angels are active in the Book of Acts helping Peter to take him out from prison; “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.” And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him. When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.” (Acts 12:7-11) Makikita natin na dumating ang anghel upang iligtas si Pedro dahil sa mga prayers ng mga mananampalataya. “And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.” Acts 12:4-5) They were also assigned to bring judgment; “On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.” (Acts 12:21-23) Tandaan natin na ang mga anghel ay pinapadala ng Diyos bilang pagtugon sa ating mga panalangin upang tuparin ang kalooban ng Diyos dito sa lupa. Dumadating din sila upang sundin ang Mga Utos ng Diyos o ang mga Salita ng Diyos na binibigyan natin ng boses. Sinabi din ito ng Mga Awit; “Bless the Lord, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word.” (Psalms 103:20) We must therefore give voice to the Commandment of the Lord by speaking it from our mouth. Angels listens to us when we give voice the Word of God through our confession. We must always put our angels on assignment by always speaking and confessing the Word of God from our mouth. Remember they are being sent to minister to those who are heirs of salvation.”
