Angel tried to pull Ann and herself up onto the branch, but to her - TopicsExpress

Angel tried to pull Ann and herself up onto the branch, but to her horror she saw a huge log coming along quickly. The log would crush them if they stayed where they were, so she had no choice but to let go. She grabbed onto Ann tightly as the water pushed them further downstream. Water splashed into Angel’s eyes as she desperately tried to keep Ann’s head above the water. They spun and swirled with the water current. Angel couldn’t see anything as they were tossed around. Then suddenly pain shot through Angel’s back as she slammed into a huge rock that was sticking out of the water. Angel gasped and water filled her mouth. She started coughing and lost her concentration and hit another rock. The water swept over them, causing them to dip deeper. Angel clung to Ann, but she knew she was losing consciousness from hitting the rocks and swallowing too much water. She could feel the blackness consuming her, no matter how hard she fought it. She couldn’t believe this was it, that she was leaving Jake and Adam behind. She had tried so hard to protect her siblings and now it was too late. She was never going to see them grow up. She prayed that the Tibbins family were kind folk that would take the rest of her family, including the animals, in. She was about ready to let go of Ann and let death take her when something nagged at the edges of her mind. It was a feeling that told her don’t give up and help was on the way. Angel thought she felt something wrap tightly around her waist and pull her before she lost consciousness completely. Copyright 2014 Olivia DeCourtney
