~Angels In Our Rescue~ In preparation for my devotional this evening, I came across a story of a young teenager who definitely had an angelic experience after being in a terrible suv accident. (For the sake of time and space...Ill summarize...) While heading to school with some of his friends accompanying him, his suv hydroplaned and as a result, flipped, pinning everyone inside. With broken glass and the doors crushed shut, there appeared to be no way out. Then, almost instantaneously, there appeared a huge African-American man that looked as if he could pass for a NFL linebacker standing right outside the vehicle. The man asked, You kids alright...? Were okay, but we cant get out. Allow me, said the man. Then one by one, he pulled them all to safety with little ease due to his size and strength. Immediately, upon retrieving all the kids from the car, he was gone. Heres the interesting twist to the story. The young driver asked the firefighters (who by the way were present as the kids were pulled from the wreckage) the whereabouts of the big African-American man who saved them. The firefighters reply as they just looked at each other..., ...But we saw you climbing out of the car when we drove up. There was no one else here.” Yeah...thats what I say. Now, whether or not you believe a story like this or not, is perfectly up to you. Personally, I believe these type of events happen everyday. Heres my caution, however. In continuation of yesterdays writing and the worship angels, we are also not to trust in them for our protection and or care. Remember, they are simply Gods servants fulfilling what He sends them to do. (Hebrews 1:14) No...our complete trust and dependence is to be in none other than God Almighty Himself. In Psalm 91 we read, Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Biblically speaking, to say, Well...Im just going to trust in my guardian angel to take care of me simply makes no sense. Its about like saying to the owner of the company you work for, Look...Im just putting you on notice. Effective today, I will no longer look to you to keep me employed...no...Ill forward all my future job concerns regarding my job to your secretary. All jokes aside.... Tell God in prayer this evening as your prepare to retire, Heavenly Father, I thank you for your angels that you do send our way when we are in need. But God, I worship and trust in You and You alone. In Jesus name, Amen. ~Scott PS: If you desire to read the summarized story above, the link is below. guideposts.org/inspiration/angels-on-earth/guardian-angels/protected-by-his-guardian-angel?page=0,1
