Angkor Wat is not only the famous towers which make the landmark of the site when you enter into. Around the wat (temple) there are 800 m of bas-reliefs which show scenes of the hinduist epic and scenes of the kings life. Most of the bas-reliefs have been made in XII century, but others have been added later (XVI century). Since Angkor Wat was a hindu temple, the epic bas-reliefs depicts hinduist epic, mainly from Mahabharata, the punishments and the rewards of the Heavens and Hells. Some sections shows also the battle of Suryavarman II, the builder of Angkor Wat and scenes of the courts lfe. The bas-reliefs depict the cruently battle in which also the elephants seem to take part of the battle, fighting each other or killing the enemies.
