Anglerfish, desperately ugly denizens of the deep sea, mate by having the male of the species latch on to the female. He then slowly fuses with her, and their bloodstreams merge while his various organs eventually whither away until he is nothing left but a pair of gonads, which release sperm occasionally when necessary. In some cases, female anglerfish may have up to 6 gentlemen callers attached to her over her lifespan.
