Anima Mundi Journeys: Greece June 11-25, 2014 Itinerary: June 11-13--Athens: Orientation and welcome dinner. Tour the Akropolis and Parthenon (The temple of Athena) and visit the marvelous new Akropolis museum. Sunset and opening ritual at Cape Sounio at the temple of Poseidon. Enjoy the rooftop view of the Akropolis from our hotel. We are centrally located in the Plaka, perfect for shopping, dining, museums, and night life. June 14-16—Delphi: Air-conditioned coach up Mt. Parnassus to the village of Delphi, with a stop at Eleusis, site of ancient mysteries of Demeter and Persephone. Two-night stay in charming mountain inn with beautiful vistas. Visit the temples of Athena and Apollo, site of the great Oracle of Delphi. June 16-21—Crete: Fly to Heraklion, island of Crete. Stay in a beautiful Venetian private villa in the Cretan countryside savoring local cuisine and culture. Visit ancient Minoan archeological sites (Knossos, Phaestos, etc.), hike the natural beauty of the Samaria gorge, visit sacred Byzantine churches and monasteries, explore villages, olive groves and mythological caves, and/or relax by the pool or at the beach. June 21-25--Island of Santorini: From Heraklion, Crete we travel by ferry to the dramatic island of Santorini, once known as ancient Thira and thought to be the location of Atlantis. This island is what remains of a volcano which cataclysmically erupted 3500 years ago. We will be staying in a beautiful private villa carved out of the side of the cliff overlooking the caldera and Mediterranean Sea. Explore the town on foot or by donkey, savor Greek coffee and pastries, and revel in the most extraordinary sunsets you will ever see. Sail and/or swim in the blue Aegean waters, visit archeological sites and small shrines. Good bye dinner, music and dancing. Fly back to Athens. (Pricing and details to follow.
