Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a program that is 42 years strong here at Tree House. We believe that by fostering the human-animal bond between those that need it, and our adoptable Tree House Cats, we can aim to improve participants physical, social, emotional, and/or cognitive functioning. For those who are in hospitals, nursing homes, or even womens shelters, this can have a pivotal affect on their well-being! This approach, coupled with humane education regarding the treatment of animals, will ultimately enhance the lives of both parties! Just last year we began a partnership with an organization called 1FUR1, a group that helps animal-related nonprofits to build healing bonds between humans and animals. With their help, we have been able to bring 5 new facilities on board where volunteers are now regularly visiting!
