Animal abuser and likely murderer in Florida is caught on video beating a dog, Athena, and then carrying her lifeless body off somewhere out of view. The man, Stacy Glover, has been charged with four felony counts of animal cruelty and one felony count of tampering with evidence. I am very glad to see the police taking this case seriously. It will not however bring little Athena back. I believe she is long gone. RIP little girl, you deserved a lot better and I am so sorry that the bad man hurt you. Run free and play hard. Godspeed love... :( I will post the video but it is disturbing. Also, the petition indicates some of these charges may have been dropped but I do not know if that is accurate or not. It also claims that he has a record of violence which is no surprise. https://change.org/p/honorable-judge-thomas-w-krug-i-write-to-respectfully-request-that-you-help-enforce-the-maximum-penalty-allowable-by-law-against-stacy-glover ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dog-sitter caught on video beating Dachshund, investigators say Aug 27, 2014 FOX 13 Tampa Bay Staff NOKOMIS (FOX 13) - A Nokomis man is under arrest after getting caught on video apparently abusing, and possibly killing a small dog. Deputies arrested 24-year-old Stacy Glover Wednesday morning. According to the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office, Glovers in-laws asked him to watch their 12-pound Dachshund, and when they came home, Glover said they dog ran away. Then they checked their home surveillance video. Detectives said the video, recorded August 8, showed Glover on the homes back patio throwing, punching and kicking the dog. At one point the dog tries to hide under patio furniture, but the video shows what appears to be Glover chasing her down and capturing her. A sheriffs office spokesman said Glover then picked her up by the throat and carried her back into the home by her neck. A short time later, he carries what appears to be the lifeless dog out the door, and out of frame. ***** The dogs name was Athena, and she was 16 months old, according to her owner, Jessie Anderson. FOX 13 spoke to her by phone Wednesday night. She said her air conditioning went out, so she asked a friend, who is also a co-worker, to watch the dog. That friend/co-worker is married to Glover, Anderson said. Anderson said when she went to work Friday, her friend told her that her husband was watching the dog. Later Friday afternoon, Anderson said her friend told her she got a text from her husband saying the dog was missing. The friend then left work, and headed over to the house to help search for the dog. Anderson also went over to join the search. “When I got off work, I went over there, and thats when they decided to review the home surveillance,” Anderson said. “All I watched was he passed her out the door. I was so angry I had to step outside. And when I came back inside, everyone was in tears and told me not to watch it.” ***** Anderson says she got Athena when she was eight weeks old. “She was my baby girl. She was not an angry or feisty or a mean dog, by any means. She was the sweetest, gentle, loving tiny dog. She wasnt just a dog to me, she was my child,” Anderson said. Anderson said she has never met Glover, and cant understand what provoked what he is accused of doing. “I dont understand why or what she, a 12-pound miniature Daschund could have possibly done to deserve what she did. She didnt deserve that, Anderson said. The sheriffs office said the video shows Glover walking away from the house, heading toward a wooded, swampy area near the home with Athena in his hands. Detectives say it is unclear whether the dog was still alive at that point, so they asked a veterinarian to look at the video. The vet said the excessive force would very likely have caused serious, if not fatal injuries. Investigators were even shocked at what they saw. Just disgust, that someone would victimize a defenseless animal like that, said Colonel Steve Burns with the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office. The dog has not been found, and Burns said Glover isnt cooperating with the investigation. Glover is charged with four felony counts of animal cruelty, and one felony count of tampering with evidence -- which is good news to Anderson. “When I found out the charges, I was thanking God and thinking were one step closer to what [Athena] deserves, she deserves justice, she said. Glover is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $50,000 bond. myfoxtampabay/story/26386054/dog-sitter-caught-on-video-beating-dachshund-investigators-say
