Animal agriculture is responsible for 51% of all greenhouse gases. It is the #1 contributor to human caused climate change, not fossil fuels. Raising animals for food consumes 1/3 of our Earths fresh water, it occupies 45% of our land, it is responsible for 91% of Amazon deforestation, it is the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, habitat destruction, oh, and don’t forget that its linked to 70% of all human disease… We’re literally killing ourselves along with this planet for the sake of a burger! The worlds 7 billion humans drinks 5.2 billion gallons of water each day and eats 21 billions pounds of food. The worlds 1.5 billion cows drink 45 billion gallons of water each day and eats 135 billion pounds of food. Cows drink 8 times more water than humans do! The state of California is in a serious drought... yet we are not changing our farming practices. We’re growing enough food to feed 12-15 billion people yet 1 billion people starve everyday! What’s wrong with this system?
