Animal rangers will remain unarmed By Blair Thomson - June 19, 2013, 9:46 p.m. A PUSH to arm animal rangers with guns has failed. A councillor had wanted City of Greater Bendigo rangers to be armed with guns to put down injured animals and kill dogs harassing livestock. But an animal management plan recommending they remain unarmed passed at a council meeting tonight. Shepparton, Central Goldfields, Surf Coast and Southern Grampians councils have armed animal rangers. But councillor Rod Campbell, who noted he had grown up on a farm and knew the risk of guns, said the plan was too dangerous. bendigoadvertiser.au/story/1584890/animal-rangers-will-remain-unarmed/?cs=80
