Animals make me happy... Always have... My aunt had a goat named marigold.. She was the sweetest and my favorite... I was 10 and on summer vacation. Marigold was pregnant and had come down with a immune system virus...she was dying. That night was awful...but miraculous... My aunt knew marigold wouldnt make it through the night and there were three kids in her womb that had to come out or they would die too... The setting~ 50 miles inland from Salton sea.. The middle of the desert... Kerosene lamps and blankets on the dirt...there was marigold...a black and brown nubien goat... The milkey way and every star was visible...big moon shining.... The creasote smell of the posts of the pen made of RR ties and slight hint of goat fertilized soil and less but subtle debts of the kerosene from our lamp... I remember this moment well...I can taste the emotion I felt...as I write this... We fed marigold with a bottle as she was to weak to eat... I watched my aunt reach into marigold from her rear...my uncle holding marigold from moving...at first I thought....omg...discusting..lol. But slowly my aunt pulled out 1 baby goat..then another... She asked me if Id help... This no longer was disgusting or gross but rather a miracle was taking place... Following my aunts instruction, I reached in and brought out the last baby goat... Within minutes my favorite goat ... Beautiful and so sweet... Marigold took her last Breath.... We all cried....I remember hugging her and crying but in the calm of her spirit and the comforting of my aunt and uncle... My crying turned to a warm happiness as I lifted my head.... Even more amazing....perched up on a post of the pen....a white pigmy owl...had been watching the entire event....not but 10-12 feet away.... Amazing memory.... Rip....uncle Steven... Thank you auntie...
