Anjeed Kafanchan Posts Public Notice for On-Grid Electricity Generation License Kafanchan, Kaduna State, Nigeria – 8 August 2014 – Anjeed Kafanchan Solar has officially given notice that it has applied to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for an On-Grid Electricity Generation License. The License will authorize Anjeed Kafanchan Solar to generate 10MW at the Kafanchan Solar Power Plant. The Plant is the first of its kind in Nigeria and will prove the viability of clean, renewable solar energy to meet Nigeria’s growing power demand. Its success can pave the way for solar power development throughout West Africa and potentially change the face of African power generation. Group CEO Gideon Nyan is proud to be part of the leadership team of the first company in Nigeria to reach this level for a Solar On-Grid Electricity Generation License, and is pleased by the team’s hard work and focus to maintain momentum toward successful completion of the Project. Following successful completion of all requirements established by the Federal Ministry in union with the World Bank’s procedures relating to Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Anjeed Kafanchan Solar was previously awarded Nigeria’s first ever ESIA Certificate for a Solar Generation Power Project. ESIA certification demonstrates Anjeed Kafanchan’s fitness to not only bring online a Solar Power Plant that will benefit the environment as it produces clean, renewable and reliable power, but also do so in a way that benefits the people in the project area. Group President Thomas Sherman points to Anjeed Innova’s ZERO HARM mandate, and encourages other companies to adopt the Anjeed policy of benefiting the environment, individuals, communities and future generations throughout the lifetime of all Projects and beyond. In line with Anjeed Innova’s ZERO HARM policy, the Anjeed Kafanchan Solar Project will contribute to the achievement of United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Project, in all phases, ensures environmental sustainability (MDG 7) and promotes gender equality and empowerment of women (MDG 3) through its hiring and training practices. By providing access to reliable power for medical facilities and schools, it also contributes to the reduction of child mortality (MDG 4), improvement of maternal health (MDG 5), combating disease (MDG 6) and the achievement of universal primary education (MDG 7). Major General Ishaya Bakut (rtd), Vice Chairman of the Board, reasserts the significance of the Group’s achievements thus far that have led to this milestone, and the importance of a Project that will in this 10MW phase meet the power needs of its local government area, provide training and jobs, and continue to positively impact the people of Nigeria and neighboring countries through expansion and future Projects. All Anjeed Projects are engineered and executed to have minimal negative impact on the environment and high positive impact on communities. Chairman Col. BT Kachim (rtd) expresses his continued gratitude for local government and community support and encourages continued community support to realize the Project’s goal to provide clean, renewable power to over 250,000 Nigerians within the project area, and many more through successive phases. He credits Almighty God and honest hard work for ongoing success. “When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you (Psalm 128:2).” Anjeed Kafanchan Solar Limited is an indigenous independent power company incorporated in 2013 to fill the gap in Nigeria’s power needs by focusing on renewable energy sources. Let there be light.
