Ankle Inflexibility If you have a background in cycling and especially running, your ankles have become very strong but stiff to avoid rolling an ankle. However, when it comes to swimming, stiff ankles will actually slow you down because your ankle flexibility doesnt allow you point your toes. When you toes are not pointing back, they are literally pointing to the bottom of the pool and creating drag. This is made evident when you kick with a kick board - you go backwards! To help improve your flexibility of your ankles in the water, start swimming 20-25% of your swim workout volume with fins (short or long). Here are some fun drills that you can implement the next time you hit the water. Note: I am working on some new videos that are more challenging to improve your ankle flexibility, so please subscribe to my Youtube channel so that you receive a notification off when the videos are uploaded and available to watch. https://youtube/watch?v=UeB85N83WMU
