Ann Louise asks, "SOURDOUGH HELP!! I recently started experimenting with sourdough. I made my first starter from scratch. It was doing really well and I managed to bake several batches of delicious sourdough biscuits with my starter. Then, life happened and I forgot to feed my starter. It molded and I just threw it out and started over with a new, clean jar. This new starter has been fed about three or four times (every 12 hours, just like my first successful batch). Every time I open the cloth to feed it, I see little pinkish hooch puddles just covering the low spots. In one place, I read that the color meant the sourdough starter is infected and to throw it out. In another place, the lady just went with it and it worked out fine. What should I do? I’m using an organic, unbleached all purpose flour; 1/3 cup flour to 1/4 cup water is my ration for feedings. Thanks in advance!"
