Anna Mae McKay Sun Aug 14th EASLEY, S.C. — Anna Mae McKay, age 53, of Easley, South Carolina, formerly of Beckley, passed away at her home on Friday, August 12, 2011, following a long illness. Born on April 29, 1958, in Ghent, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Overton Settle and Dorothy Logan Settle. Mrs. McKay was a homemaker, and a member of the Faith Independent Baptist Church in South Carolina. She had made her home in South Carolina for the past 15 years. Anna enjoyed telling jokes, and would always start with the opening line of the joke by saying “did you ever hear the one about.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Jimmy Foster. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Eugene Harold McKay of Prosperity; A son, Eugene Harold McKay III and his wife Nicole West of Pickens, South Carolina; Three daughters, Donna Kline and her husband Tim Swafford of Easley, South Carolina; Gina Buckner and her husband Rod Buckner of Greenville, South Carolina; and April Connant and her husband George Connant of Marshill, North Carolina. A brother, Overton Eugene Settle and his wife Kay of Beckley; Three sisters, Charlotte Ellison and her husband Jerry of Beckley; Carol Germann and her husband Art of Dover, Delaware; and Donna Settle of Oak Hill. Thirteen grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony, Jacob, Candice, Jody, Cheyenne, Leah, Katlynn, David Jr., Jordan, Alexis, J.T., and McKenzie, two special caregivers, one who was like the fourth sister to Anna, Alana Valentin, and Tim Swafford, Anna’s son-in-law. Funeral services celebrating the life of Anna McKay will be held at the Bradley Freewill Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Peters officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity, WV. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Anthony Caldwell, Tim Swafford, Anthony Kline, Jody Childress, Jeff Whitney, and Kaleb Stoddard. Online condolences may be sent to our guestbook at roseandquesenberry.net.
