Annabelle The film looks relatively interesting at first. It starts by promising monsters of some sort. The script highlights an annoying lack of self-preservation on behalf of the protagonists. But the movie tries to be more than just a creepy doll freakout, and delivers the requisite scares. A couple of good jumps but this Conjuring spin-off is led down by poor writing, anodyne leads and and overwhelming sense of familiarity. It is a well-crafted but mechanical affair that delivers plenty of shocks but the plotting and characterisation are perfunctory in the extreme. with a few goose-bump moments along the way, but the story makes no sense whatsoever. Even with the dry bloodless horror, Annabelle effectively uses shadows and lighting techniques to give a feel of the menacing danger. Its a good one ime watchable movie. Now lets await for Jessabelle !!!
