Anne Tyler has a new book coming out! It will be released in February, and its called A SPOOL OF BLUE THREAD. I am counting the days. Shes one I snap up off the bookstore table without reading the flyleaf or the comments on the back of the book, without looking at a single page inside. The first time I read her, I rushed out and read everything else shed written. I couldnt believe what Id been missing. She has a way of looking at things and (needless to say) expressing them, that makes me so appreciative of her I dont know what to do. Remember when you were a little kid and you got so excited you thought you might blow up? Thats how I feel now. Here is my fondest fantasy: I go to visit her and were both wearing loafers and socks. Thats as far as I get: I ring her doorbell, and, when she opens the door, I see that were both wearing loafers and socks. I wonder if they still make Weejuns.
