Anne originally contacted me about her email being hacked. I - TopicsExpress

Anne originally contacted me about her email being hacked. I advised her to contact the Sheriffs Department to get a file on the incident, which she did. Of course, they told her that they had no jurisdiction since the perpetrator was out of Brazos County (Colorado). I also advised her to contact the FBI because they have an internet crime division called IC3 that might be interested in helping out. I never believed and still dont believe that the lady in Colorado was the hacker due to the poor language in the email sent to the Financial Advisor. Folks, this is a perfect example of what COULD happen to you, if your computer or smart phone is hacked. It doesnt even have to be your fault. If someone in your email contact group happens to click on a link to malware that then takes your email address, that is all a scam artist or phishing expert needs to get started. It is also a good example of how banks or financial advisors protect your information and monies, as the Financial Advisor didnt allow the transaction without speaking to Anne first. Once he phoned her, they both knew there was a problem. Also, as I have said many times, passwords can either protect you or open the door to a scam artist wholl take your personal information for his/her personal use, possibly costing you major dollars. Finally, I tipped David Norris at KBTX off to this story because I knew hed do an outstanding job with it. KBTX loses David to Tulsa, Oklahoma in about a week. Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone, and remember that Saturday is Shop Small (local). BBB cares!
