Announced yesterday: Koide Tennessee to bring 32 jobs & $10.1 million in capital investment The Blount Partnership along with officials from Koide Tennessee, Inc., announced the company is expanding its operations in the Stock Creek Development Technology Park in Rockford, Tennessee, with the construction of a 76,000 square-foot manufacturing facility. The announcement represents an investment of $10,106,000 and the creation of 32 new positions in Blount County. Koide (Coy-day) is a worldwide corporation that specializes in precision cut-to-length steel and aluminum tubing used to manufacture anti-vibration devices for the automotive industry. This expansion allows Koide to expand its customer base while increasing productivity for its current clients. This expansion is a big step for our company that allows us to further develop our operations. We have been in Blount County for 15 years and this area is centrally located for easy access to our customers, said Takeshi Yoshida, Koide president. Within the automotive industry, Koide Tennessee is well-known by our customers and suppliers. Our company would like to continue to build its relationship with the community by increasing opportunities and prosperity. With a roster of 67 employees, Koide runs three shifts in its current facility where it operates a high speed cutting and chamfering machine to meet the demands of mass production. The new hires include 27 machine operators and five additional office staff. I want to thank Koide for its investment in Blount County that will benefit our citizens and economy, said Bryan Daniels, Blount Partnership president/chief executive officer. This is another sign of positive economic growth in the area that leverages our unique assets which has in turn brought about more than $431 million of capital investment and 2200 jobs over the past four years. Daniels also noted that this is the 45th announcement regarding industrial development or expansion in Blount County since 2000, matching the total for the previous 30 years. Shortly after opening its Blount County operations in 1998, Koide expanded and increased its production capacity in 2001. It has been certified twice by Smithers Quality Assessments in Dec. 2002 and Nov. 2008 for its quality management systems related to design, development and production. Koide Kokan Co., Ltd., was founded in 1974 in Takamatsu, Kagawa in Japan, and has expanded it operations 10 times. It has offices in Italy, China, Poland, Thailand and Mexico.
