Announcement - Saint Mary School and Mater Dei Prep FATHER JEFFREY J. KEGLEY Pastor August 5, 2014 Dear Parents, Faculty, Staff and Friends, It’s been said that Catholic schools are nothing short of a miracle; however, in providing Catholic education today we are faced with many challenges. At the Campus Schools of Saint Mary Parish we have been successfully proactive in facing these challenges to ensure that our future is secure and we are able to provide a solid spiritual and academic formation for generations to come. Today I am pleased to inform you that Mater Dei Prep is expecting the largest freshmen class in the last ten years - 75% greater than last year’s freshmen enrollment. Additionally, there are a great number of students transferring in to be part of the Mater Dei Prep family. At Saint Mary School we are excited to welcome 25 new families in our upper grades. Even as I write this letter, new parents are registering their children at Saint Mary School. This success has been the result of an aggressive marketing and recruitment strategy employed this past year. Now we need to bring this strategy to the next level of success. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that, effective today, Steven Sciarappa has been promoted to Director of Campus Schools, with responsibility for Advancement and Admissions for both Saint Mary School and Mater Dei Prep. Steven is a valued member of our community and has been instrumental in the planning and execution of our marketing and recruitment strategy. I am truly grateful that he has agreed to lead this important effort while continuing in his role as head football coach at Mater Dei Prep. I am confident that his leadership will enable us to grow and expand our mission of Catholic Education at the Campus Schools of Saint Mary. Mater Dei Prep is committed to providing the finest college-preparatory program in an inclusive family environment. In support of that effort I have asked Craig Palmer to assume the role as principal of Mater Dei Prep. Many of you have to come to know Craig through his involvement in our Parish community over the years and his role as associate principal at Mater Dei Prep. As an educator and administrator, Craig brings more than 25 years’ worth of experience to the job: he is exceptionally qualified to carry the torch passed on by Steven. Our high school is a uniquely vibrant and spirited community where students are motivated by high expectations and enduring Christian values, and I have full confidence that Craig will continue to build upon the foundation set by his predecessors. Each day at our Parish, amazing and wonderful things happen in the classroom and around the campus. We are blessed with gifted and motivated students who amaze us daily with their talents. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our students is the other part of our family, our parishioners, who inspire and encourage our students to follow their dreams. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic fields, as part of the arts programs, or participating in the many clubs, your support and involvement help our students to do their best and sustain their dreams. Thank you and May God continue to bless you and your family abundantly! Sincerely in Christ, Father Jeff Kegley
