Announcement for Commission Corps Officer – Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act Amendment Acts of 1988 (CLIA) Medical Technologist Surveyor-2014 The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is seeking a Commissioned Corps Officer for a position in their Regional Office in San Francisco, California. The medical technologist position will be filled at the 04 or 05 levels and will be located in the Western Consortium Survey and Certification Division, San Francisco, CLIA and State Oversight Branch. CMS is seeking an officer with strong clinical background in laboratory medical technology including its practices and management and ability to work in a team setting. Prior surveying skills and a current medical technologist license is preferred. This position is located in San Francisco, CA. Duties – -Interprets the CLIA, Title XVIII, and Title XIX of the Social Security Act and related laws, regulations, and policies to ensure that a laboratory complies with all Federal regulations, policies, and procedures. -Provides technical assistance to CLIA survey state agencies, laboratories, associations, etc. -Oversees the performance of State agency contractors including conducting Federal Monitoring Surveys. -Performs and leads direct federal surveys of certified laboratories. -Conducts special studies. -Handles enforcement cases including the potential of testifying at hearings before an Administrative Law Judge. -Oversees CLIA state agency budgets and productivity. -Responds to and resolves CLIA written and phone inquiries. -Prepares well-written reports and correspondence including responses to Congressional inquiries. -Exhibits excellent communication skills in a variety of settings and with team members. To be eligible, the officer must have: -Demonstrated ability to utilize various software programs to complete the assigned work -Significant clinical laboratory medical technology concepts, practice and management experience -Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting -Demonstrated experience ensuring the adherence to performance measures through data analysis -Demonstrated ability to collaborate with professional groups or providers of service regarding laboratory issues or concerns -Demonstrated skills in quality improvement activities If interested in applying for this position, please submit a CV and cover letter to [email protected] by COB November 14, 1014.
