Announcement for Paula E. Hyman Mentoring Program To advance the field of Jewish Women’s and Gender Studies and to honor the memory of Paula E. Hyman, Hebrew Union College and the Jewish Theological Seminary with the support of the AJS Women’s Caucus are starting a mentoring program for emerging scholars in the field. We will select six emerging scholars and pair them with senior scholar mentors. They will be asked to meet, either in person or virtually, bimonthly and will be invited to stay an extra day at the 2014 AJS Convention at the program’s expense in order to debrief the Conference experience, have individual meetings between mentors and mentees, and hold a group colloquium with the mentors and the program steering committee. Applications are accepted from both non-tenure track and tenure-track scholars, as well as from scholars in non-traditional fields and independent scholars, who have received or will have received their Ph.D. degrees between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2014. Applicants must be current members of the Association for Jewish Studies and the AJS Women’s Caucus. You may establish or renew your membership(s) at ajsnet.org/enroll.htm. Mentors will be approached in consultation with the mentees. Applications will consist of: · Cover Letter including: o Contact information o Description of dissertation research and any other subsequent publications o A one-two paragraph description of what you would like to achieve through participation in the mentoring program o Names of three senior scholars as possible mentors with a brief statement explaining why you chose each one · Curriculum Vitae · Contact information for two academic references Materials should be submitted electronically to ajswomenscaucus@gmail by Friday, June 6th, 2014.
