Announcing to local food-focused Facebook groups that we had black - TopicsExpress

Announcing to local food-focused Facebook groups that we had black walnuts for the taking resulted in meeting a few (too few for the quantity of nuts we have!) new people whom I hope become regular friends. Conversations flowed as we crawled through the flower beds and across the lawns filling up buckets with natures bounty. One conversation hinged around one of our harvesters knowledge of modern societys increasing numbers of learning disabilities and allergies in young children. Too soon we had collected the fallen nuts and our interesting conversation came to an end and we parted, each to attend our next social commitment of the day. True to her commitment, Cecile sent me a link to a 2011 TED talk she knew about ... a talk by a medical doctor linking the consumption of foods favouring the feeding our our mitochondria and favouring the production of myelin sheaths around our nerve fibers. For me, with a form of macular degenaration in one eye, the TED talk related the benefits of eating larger quantities and varieties of unprocessed foods rich in essential vitamins and natural elements (especially sulfur found in the cabbage family). For those with other health issues, such as MS, the TED talk linked the speakers overcoming of significant MS-related problems by readjusting her dietary practices to cater to the needs of her nervous system. Following is the link to the TED talk, “Minding your Mitochondria”, by Dr. Terry Wahls. Love to hear people’s reaction to this talk. https://youtube/watch?v=KLjgBLwH3Wc
