Annual General Meeting 17 June 2013 The Highland Accordion and Fiddle Club held their Annual General Meeting at the usual venue and a crowd of approximately 60 were in attendance. The meeting produced no major surprises and Club Chairman Fraser Maclean reported on a very successful season just finished. Fraser was re-elected as chairman and Bob Wares was returned as vice chairman. Jacquie Macdonald and May Smith were returned unopposed to the secretary and treasurer positions respectively and thereafter the whole committee were returned en bloc. More of the same at the Highland Club for next season and a slight increase in fees was moved without much debate. After a very welcome cuppa, Club members Graham Wilson and Iain Stewart entertained the faithful. Graham was in sparkling form and played a number of tunes he had composed himself. Iain Stewart had the full drum kit with him and together they filled an hour and a half with no shortage of quality material. Calum Mackaskill joined Graham and Iain on stage with the steel guitar and the crowd really enjoyed the treat. A rarely used instrument nowadays and it was certainly a first for the Highland Club in recent years. Calum usually takes the normal guitar with him but being the informal occasion of the annual general meeting and coupled with the warm weather, the crowd really enjoyed the change. Graham and Iain played some really entertaining stuff and the crowd certainly went off for the summer break in good spirits.
