Anon has asked: I have a 10 month old dd and we bed shared and breast feed on demand since day one. Although my baby is enjoying food majority if her nutrition comes from breast feeding in demand throughout the day. Thing is I will need a major surgery day after tomorrow where Im expected to be in hospital for a week . The operation is in my hip meaning baby wont be able to come on my lap and breast feeding for the first week pos op is unlikely due to all the antibiotics + morphine I will be taking. Although I dont intend to stop breast feeding I know the initial stage if recovery wil mean I wont be able to give my baby too much attention in order to recover properly- I wont be able to move much- so I guess my question is how can we help my dd go to all this changes without traumatising her? My hubby will be looking after her, bed sharing with her wearing her but he doesnt have the boob. Im stressing she will 1- starve 2- cry non stop for me 3 dont sleep since she is used to grab in to the boob all night to resettle. How did I do this? Please help I am devastated, I dont my baby to suffer but u need to look after myself as need to recover. Im going to be pumping and dumping in hospital. TIA so much for your wise advices.
