Anonymous Confession #40- In the beginning of year 10 my father passed away from a heart attack very suddenly. I wasnt expecting it. He was my hero.. And it was a struggle to live through life without him.. I struggled with severe depression and anxiety from that point on and through my HSC. At the start of this year I was given the news my mum had cancer, a month later I received the news my Aunty also had cancer however a different type. This battered my chances of getting good marks.. I couldnt focus at the best of times. I was a wreck. Not wanting to get up for school. I had lost so many friends but I knew I had to keep pushing. As I went the my half yearly tests, my mum had undergone an operation to remove the cancer and start chemotherapy. Needless to say my marks suffered through this. Reaching the trials, my mum was still under chemotherapy and she was having allergic reactions to the treatment, one thing after another bad thing would happen and my anxiety skyrocketed to the point where I would get into a test, forget everything no matter how hard I studied and I would break down. Then I met my boyfriend... He helped me realise that Im worth something, that its worth achieving my goals. Hes my perfection and I couldnt thank him enough. I went into the HSC confident since I had received early entry into my dream course (nursing). I was taking Zoloft to cope with the anxiety and I smashed the HSC tests in my opinion (70s for all tests) I couldnt be more proud. My mum is now free of cancer, my Aunty is still battling but she is strong. I still miss my dad very much but I made it. I got my HSC, my dream course. I made it. If I can do it... Everyone else can too.
