Anonymous I am an unmarried father and I am just beginning a custody battle for joint physical and legal custody of my children. There are no court orders for custody or support set at this time. I have been there and lived with my kids since day one until she kicked me out of the house. I have been volintairly paying support since the day she kicked me out and have documentation. Recently work got slow and I have fallen behind 1 month of support. I told her I am going back to work and will continue paying her as well as get her cought up on the back support. The next day she reduced my parenting time, has denied me the right to go to doctors visits, as well as made me do all the transportation which we used to split. She has said in multiple text messages that she is doing this because I am behind on support. My question is should I have my lawyer get on her lawyer so It hopefully goes back to what I had before or should I ride it out? I feel if my lawyer dosent talk to hers she will continue to further limit my time and make it worse on me and the kids as well as continue bringing the money factor up proving her true motives. On the other hand if my lawyer gets involved she may get smarter about the games she is playing. Any advice would be helpfull.
