Anonymous MOM messaged us: I was on a flight home with my daughter, age 3, who is a stroke survivor and has spastic quad CP. This is what happened to us… Sat on the Tarmac in the Dominican Republic for almost an hour because a flight attendant on my United flight refused to take off with Ivy sitting on my lap. Despite the fact that I had a purchased a seat for her that we could not use and thoroughly explaining to said attendant that she is unable to sit independently, she insisted on creating a scene. The remaining 3 flight attendants pleaded our case, in fact one was in tears, but this one attendant dug her heels in and wouldnt budge. My other 3 children were sobbing, my niece was sobbing, other passengers were getting involved yet this woman still displayed zero compassion. The other 3 flight attendants looked through their handbook and found a clause that stated that if a passenger could not sit independently they were allowed to sit on a lap. They ran to show her the clause - she had an opportunity to make a justifiable exception and chose to continue to humiliate us. Such a horrifying experience!
