Anonymous Question: I have epilepsy, and have grand mal seizures. I had one last night in my sleep for the first time ever. I know i did because i woke up weird, it was just my head bobbing around and i was flat on my back, my arms and legs were flat and straight out. When i was coming around and waking up i thought this was an odd position i was waking up from, after i got up and went to the bathroom i noticed my tongue, teeth and head hurt. I checked out my tongue and i had bite marks and then i realized i had a seizure in my sleep. My husband has been sick and so he was on the couch last night so he didnt hear me. But i was thinking about how dangerous that was all day and ive heard that you can swallow your tongue and it can be fatal to have a seizure in your sleep. Is this true? What do you do about having a seizure in your sleep? What do people do if they are alone at night?
