Anonymous asked, What are some creative/different ways respond to friends/family who wonder WHY I want to homeschool? They dont understand my desire, and they cant get past the fact that I dont need a break from my kids! I DO need a break, but my husband comes home every night, AND once or twice a month my mom comes over, or I take them there for the day. I dont get it. Why doesnt anyone enjoy spending a lot of time with their kids? I am not constantly looking to catch a break from them, and that seems mysterious to most of the people in my life. Id like to provide an honest answer without simultaneously offending them by my honest answers, which would be: *I* want to take responsibility for raising MY kids, I enjoy teaching them things, I love helping them learn, the public school system is horrible, and in some cases, down right dangerous, I like the freedom of making my own rules and schedule, I dont agree with the discipline system in public schools, the curriculum are crap (!) and too repetitive, theres no time for free/creative play, etc!, etc!, etc! And not to mention when they bring up the social aspect (dont even get me started on that! As if were hermits who never interact with other human beings). Please help me come up with a non-offensive answer that they can understand. What do you say? Thank you!
