Anonymous question. My 21 month old twins started crèche this week. The plan is for them to go three mornings a week. On day 1 they both cried at drop off and on and off during the day. On day 2, twin A was okay but twin B still cried a fair bit. Twin B is now extremely clingy at home. On the first night after crèche he managed to climb out of his cot and cried at the door of his room until I picked him up. On day 2 of crèche he kept saying things like mama coming soon and mama home now when I got him home. At bath time (when he knew we were getting ready for bed) he kept saying sleep in mamas bed. I put him in his cot but he got out in less a minute and banged on his door to get out, screaming, crying and carrying on. I finally laid on the floor next to his cot so he would lie down. It was a broken nights sleep for both of us as (at various times) hed stand up and cry and only calm down when I reminded him I was there. This is obviously not sustainable. I will need to move him out of his cot because he can get himself out now very easily, but what about his extra clinginess? Have other kids reacted this way to starting crèche/childcare/school? Would appreciate any suggestions? Thanks.
