Anonymous shares: Our son who is 16 was dxed with HFA(Aspergers), and the report says he has depression, but there was no mention of what to do now, or anything. We took him to the doctor because we were concerned about school, as he is extremely intellegent but was failing every class. When I scheduled a SAT meeting which is what is required to start any process at school, I kind of felt like we didnt get anywhere really. We are just sitting around with a label, I want to help my child, but just dont understand what all this will require and no one is telling me anything. I mean at this point its like we have a label(please dont be offened, but that is what I feel like they have done in our case). Just what am I suppost to be doing now? There was no information given other than what was in the written report from the doctor, to take to the school, and nothing suggested anything. What do you do after this? Its like we are in a new world with no map. We went to a local meeting for Autism, but didnt really know what to expect from it either. It was good, but then we left concerned that more than just our oldest son is on the spectrum. With us already not knowing what we should do to help him, now we have these concerns as well. I went to talk to our schools, and ask for testing for our other 4 children, but so far nothing. We still dont even really understand the whole scope of it at all, and what we should or shouldnt do, or who to ask, or were to turn. It feels like we are lost. HELP Please!
