Another 60# of apples picked and bagged for coworkers. Ill put a bag away for you, Dee. I estimate Ill have 120# of prime organic apples in my fridge by Friday to give to family&friends when I do a Fridley-Litch-Clearwater Lake circuit mid-October. I estimate 300-350# total harvest this year, about average for the 15 years Ive been here. 2010 saw every tree loaded to the breaking point. I harvested over 500# and threw twice that amount of bruised or blemished ones to the wildlife. Ive never fertilized or sprayed. It is surprising (alarming?) how few were pecked by birds this year. Ill store the best of my last picking for the Arseths. Pam didnt make it up for apple season this year. Thats my fault. Im caught up in my race towards Winter and never gave her a formal invitation.
