Another Big and successful weekend of racing. First we head to Devenport for the ITU race there. Gabe Dennison had another great race and really starting to learn how to race. Here are his results: tomatotiming.racetecresults/MyResults.aspx?CId=16&RId=28169&EId=2&AId=112195 Also, Matt Champness had his first long course race down at Warrnambool and finished a great 4th in his age group. warrnambooltriclub/results/43-Sufferfest And here in New Zealand the crew all had a great day. Luke Stratford, in his first Ironman finished a great 8th in his age group after not giving up all day and posted a 9hr 50min. This result did not qualify him for Hawaii, however he did miss by only two spots and has already stated that it has only made him hungrier to get there. Barny Sommerville, had a great swim and bike, however the back half of the run took its toll. A few cramps made the run a tough one, however Barny did not give up and came home with a very credible 10hr 47min. Dan McTainsh also had a really solid day and hung tough out there to post an 11hr 00min 58 sec time. Probably didnt reflect the shape Dan was in, however 11hr on a tough course is a great result. Kane Roach, unfortunately had 2 spokes break in his rear wheel which made his bike unrideable. Kane had to wait for the mechanics to assist to get him going again so that he could finish the race. This did not stop Kanes race and he still went and posted a 3hr 46min marathon for a 11hr 26min race. We spoke after the race and as many realise, it is the races that dont go to plan are the more satisfying to get the finish. Lee Martin had a tough all round day. Still managing to cross the finish line in 11hr 40min was a solid result. Unfortunately both Lea Macken & James Duffy did not finish the race. Another great weekend!
