Another Empty Promise. 19th August 2014. You promised us our shipyards would be safe if we vote NO But the lower Clyde lost its last yard, where do those workers go? They can’t head up to bigger yards, you closed them down as well And still you say UKOK, this Union’s Scotland’s Hell. We wouldn’t need this referendum, if Britain is so great But the fact we are, is telling you, we put more trust in our own fate We’re aware of what’s been said before and fallen for your traps This life is an existence as we watch our world collapse Brick by brick it’s crumbling whilst the wolves bay at the door If the status quo is what you want, vote NO but cry no more. Have you not the confidence to look for all that’s right The warning signs are there for all in big bright neon lights. Why has there been no mention of The Clair Ridge oil find? Why are the NO camp in denial, are they all deaf, dumb and blind It’s the biggest and the richest and it rests on Scotland’s shore It’s a bonus, just a bonus, nothing less and nothing more. But they’ll have you think we’re scroungers with no wealth of our own But if we were the scroungers, they’d leave us well alone! And did they tell you half a million jobs are geared up for the chop? All their secrets, all their lies, when will they ever stop? Some people are afraid of change and what they need is to believe A belief in what this country has and have the confidence to leave A union that is torn apart, whose obsession is with greed Selling off our assets, an NHS our people need It’s wealth not health they think of and for Scotland have no thought We’re the northern part, too wee too poor, the land that they forgot.
