DT The WPFW Family is sad to announce the passing of Acie Byrd, who left us peacefully 1.30 AM May 13 at the age of 77 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Acie Byrd was a passionate fighter for peace and justice. He served on both the Pacifica National Board and the Local Station Board for many years. We were blessed to have him as a national and local commentator, raising his booming articulate bass voice and strong spirit in the battles against racism, war, and injustice. The ancestors have gained a great one! Stay tuned to Acie’s favorite radio station 89.3FM for tributes to and more information on the life and contributions of Acie. Rest in peace Acie Bryd….well done! The music of Paul Robeson with the song All Men Are Brothers/Ode to Joy accompanies Acie on his journey
