Another Girl Raped by Her Own Uncle Public uproars against crimes against women and child including rape notwithstanding, there has been an upsurge in such crimes especially, rape in Manipur in recent times. It may be mentioned that in another shocking incident, a 39 year old had allegedly raped his 12 year old niece during the night of July 1 at Tharoijam Maning Leikai under Patsoi police station, while his wife was away. Another 11 year old girl, was allegedly raped by her own uncle on July 5 around 1pm at Phanung Mayai Leikai under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East. The accused has been identified as 50 year old Kangjam Loken (50), son of (L) Iboyai of Phaknung Mayai Leikai, a cousin brother of the victim’s father.. The father of the alleged victim girl speaking to media persons, said, the incident occurred on July 5. He said, while his family was working at their paddy field, his daughter who is only a class V student had gone to her uncle’s residence for her younger brother. However, taking advantage of the situation, Kangjam Loken raped her, he said.
