Another Interactive Session on Basic Life Support (BLS) organized by Jafferia Disaster Management Cell (JDC) a nonpolitical and nongovernmental organization on this Sunday 22nd September. Basic life support is relatively a short training course in which health providers learn to recognize life threatening emergencies and to revive, resuscitate or sustain a person who is experiencing a cardiac arrest or respiratory failure of some sort. This could include a drowning victim, a heart attack or stroke patient, a bomb blast victim or any other scenario where circulation and/or breathing is compromised. Basic life support is used in pre-hospital setting. It provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. It doesn’t involve any medical equipment and there are no invasive procedures taught in BLS training. The primary skills taught in the BLS course include basic mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and CPR (chest compressions to circulate blood). Skills taught in BLS course include: • Recognition of danger • Scene safety • Personal safety • Checking responsiveness • Reassure an injured person • Check for normal breathing • Activate the EMS (Emergency medical system) • Pulse • Rescue breathes/Ventilations including use of CPR breathing barriers and use of bag-valve-masks • Choking (conscious and unconscious) • CPR (affective chest compressions) (one- and two-rescuer) • Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Demonstration Because emergency can occur at any time so everyone should be educated with this life saving first aid knowledge. For this purpose JDC is providing a 5 hours comprehensive basic life support program that is AHA (American Heart Association) guideline based. Course Contents: • Theory assessment includes o Interactive videos o A comprehensive demonstration by AHA certified instructor o A manual updated with AHA based BLS guidelines • Practical assessment includes o Hands on training based on real life rescue scenarios (Usually resuscitation exercises are practiced on mannequin (dummies)). Course length: 5 hours Timings: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. No registration charges Seats are limited for registration contact Akbar Zaidi 0334 3676809 logon to facebook/JDC.organization
