Another Jamaican shines on The Voice! Reggae singer Anita Antoinette stunned judges Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, and Blake Shelton to ease through the blind auditions of The Voice on Monday. The dreadlocked singer’s delivery of Bob Marley & Lauryn Hill’s Turn Your Lights Down Low had all four judges quickly buzzing in their approval. From there on, it was a war of words between the judges as they all tried to persuade Antoinette to join their team. She eventually selected Gwen Stefani as her coach; citing Stefani’s ability to ‘blend styles together’ as a positive similarity between them. This was Antoinette’s second attempt at the competition. Stefani was elated to be chosen. She later tweeted: I can’t believe you let her go last time @adamlevine @blakeshelton! #TeamGwen has your back Anita! #4chairs Antoinette tweeted after her auditions: #TheVoice #BlindsContinue this is unreal… Did that just happened?! I won’t be able to sleep tonight. #TeamGWEN Tessanne Chin also tweeted her support for Antoinette: @AnitAntoinette just got a chance to see your #BlindAudition !!! You represented beautifully !!! #OneLove#JamaicansOnTheVoice #Proud.”
