Another Test Drive Tuesday is upon us and I have to say this is the first TDT I’ve had where the sun wasn’t blaring in the sky. To help brighten the day I was allowed to take our Tangerine Scream Focus ST Hatchback out for a little spin/roll/cruise. Or did the Focus ST take ME out for a little spin/roll/cruise? Either way, we had fun together! Speaking of fun I’d have to describe this vehicle with that simply word: FUN! As I’ve stated in previous TDT reports, I’m old enough to consider myself “old school” but young enough to not consider myself “old”. The Focus gave me a youthful feeling while driving it paired with the mature feeling of getting good gas mileage and an economical monthly payment. The best of both worlds! You may remember me posting pictures of this sporty package when we first brought it into our showroom. The ST features race inspired bucket seats with a very form-fitting, wrap around interior styling. Everything is within easy reach and you really feel like the Focus is giving you a hug each time you hop in. The 6 speed transmission is easy to shift and everything about the Focus is responsive: the steering, braking, shifting, you name it. Whatever you want it to do, it will, immediately! The power sun roof adds to the “fun” factor as does the interior/exterior trim package. Check out the rear spoiler. Generally on my test drives I hit the interstate for a couple of miles but this time I allowed myself a few extra highway miles in order to stretch the legs on this little go-getter. Growing up I remember the standard was the larger the car, the smoother the ride. Wouldn’t you know it, that standard is, well, old. I really was surprised at how smooth the Focus rode on the interstate. The seats are engineered for comfort and I really wanted to keep going. I was prepared for a bumpier, “small car” ride. What I got was a smooth, road-trip worthy feel. Most individuals I’ve chatted with about the Focus have told me they thought the vehicle would suit their son/daughter/niece/nephew/grandchild for college and I wouldn’t disagree. However, don’t let the compact look of the Focus fool you. ANYONE can benefit from what the ST has to offer. All the technology you want – SYNC, Navigation, fuel economy, traction control, Turbocharged I4 engine, etc. – wrapped up in a modern and handy package suitable for anyone’s needs. The 2013 Ford Focus 4 Door Hatchback in Tangerine Screams TAKE ME FOR YOUR OWN TEST DRIVE on any day that ends in Y. DISCLAIMER: I do not recommend driving this car directly after watching any Fast and Furious movie, especially Tokyo Drift. The urge to attempt their fancy footwork may be too tempting. Just saying….. https://facebook/media/set/?set=a.608017392553336.1073741852.114905415197872&type=1&l=ab9e144954
