Senior Manager – Economics/Finance/Business Analysis Nordicity Group Ltd is a leading strategy-consulting firm for clients in the global communications industry, encompassing telecommunications, ICT and the media and entertainment sectors. Nordicity now has an opportunity for a talented and motivated individual to join their dynamic team as Senior Manager in the Ottawa office. This will be an appealing prospect for an experienced candidate who is able to immediately apply analytical, problem-solving, project management and client development skills to the issues currently facing the Canadian communications industry. The successful candidate will receive training and support on internal processes in the initial period of employment, but will be expected to contribute to and manage projects almost immediately from date of hire. While the successful candidate will contribute to projects across a number of sectors, she/he will be encouraged to develop her/his specialized practice areas. Responsibility areas include: Projects and Proposals • Research and Analysis– identify suitable problem-solving approaches, design and implement research frameworks, apply quantitative and qualitative methods including primary and secondary sources, to develop suitable problem-solving approaches and logical, organized conclusions. • Writing – formulate research and analysis results into logical, valuable client reports at the highest standard. • Project management – efficiently develop and manage the project team (internal and external sub-contractor) throughout the project cycle in order to deliver within schedule, scope and budget and to meet / exceed client expectations. • Proposals– lead / assist in proposal processes (RFPs and sole source) including development of methodological frameworks, team-building, budgeting, quality control. Development of Lines of Business • Client development – The successful candidate will be expected to build up their own clientele and business practice through a growing network of industry contacts over time. • Business development Represent Nordicity at industry conferences and other events as an industry expert in the presentation of research and reports and/or on panels as participant or moderator. • Support – assist in corporate support activities such as the firm’s knowledge-management system, web site up dates, press releases, etc. • Develop skill sets of internal Nordicity staff as well as external subject matter experts as a roster of senior associates. Required Skills/Qualities: • Excellent methodological and model-building skills, including the ability to identify the most appropriate approach to a given problem. • Excellent quantitative- and qualitative analysis skills using Microsoft Excel and other software. • Excellent written English and ability to organize and convey ideas clearly in proposals, reports and associated client presentations. • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills in motivating teams and in project-management. • Ability to understand underlying dynamic of client requests and high degree of interpersonal skills in communicating with client. • Extremely high attention to detail. • Demonstrated ability to multitask, ‘manage upwards and downwards’ and work well under pressure • Commitment to delivering high-quality output to meet internal and external deadlines. • Ability to effectively communicate in French would be considered an asset. Required Experience: • Six to 10 years’ experience in an environment that involved strategic, financial and policy analysis and reporting. • Minimum undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or other relevant discipline. Masters level degree (in same or alternative field pertinent to the job description) would be considered an asset. • Demonstrated experience and progressive responsibilities in managing project teams, projects and clients. • Relevant experience in the target industries/sectors and functional areas cited above with telecommunications (wireline, wireless), ICT or media company(ies), a consulting firm(s) or government department or agency). While some private sector experience is a necessity, public sector experience in addition, would be considered an asset. Compensation Package: • $80,000 - $95,000 plus bonus based on performance and profit-sharing; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
