Another amazing weekend in the books. Friday night my band The Cover Up played at The Sandbar Grill and Pub. It was a packed house full of new fans, especially the crew my new drummer Jason Gardner brought out. Saturday I got to dj my dear friend Casey M. Warners wedding. It is always a blessing for me to do weddings because people trust me to take care of them on their special day, and I love that. I dont advertise at all for this, so its strictly word of mouth and people who have seen me do other weddings. Big ups to Steve Kudlz Hathaway for coming through in the clutch and emailing me a song i needed! Afterwards I linked up with some good friends and went to Luckies, and then went to a small after party for a bit. We hit up taco bell for the 4th meal, then went back to my friends apartment to cap the night. I woke up today feeling great. I walked outside to find a beautiful, perfect day just waiting for me to make the best of it. I came home to get my bike, then met up with my brother and we spent the day riding around Mathews county and the New Point Comfort Wildlife Reserve. The water was clear and we wasted a good 20-25 mins watching crabs beef with each other. They throw their claws up and go at it! I love spending time alone with him. The picturesque scenery we had today created a moment of peace and tranquility, and an overall sense of life that I cant begin to describe to you all. He showed me a cool little spot called Fort Nonsense on the way back to Gloucester, and we got off the bikes and walked through the trails where the union held a base during the civil war. We talked about how crazy it is that we live so close to so much historical stuff like this, and never take the time to visit or appreciate it. We need to do more appreciating of these things. Over the course of the weekend, I learned a lot more about life and my path, and I learned more about who cares about me and who doesnt. Its amazing to me the way the world has changed, and how people only think about themselves and how things benefit them. Loyalty and respect are ancient traits that few understand anymore. If you have someone close to you that truly cares about you and your well being more than their own fun, then thank them for it. Ive worked hard to always give people my best everything. My friends and family had a bachelorette party Saturday night, and because of those efforts, I was able to link them up with my good friend Jon Dorner, who set them up with VIP, free drinks, and the royal treatment in his club. The moral of my story here is to always give your people, and your efforts, your very best. Dont worry about what your prize or reward will be, or what someone else is or isnt giving. Months, or even years down the road, there will come a day that the respect you earn by doing so will become a residual income that is worth way more than your immediate gratification. I hope you all had a great weekend as well, and that it was spent with people that make you happy to be alive.
