Another ancient Christian town in Syria is under attack by Al Qaeda rebels, The assault on Sadad, 95 kilometers north of Damascus, began at dawn Monday, and local police forces and residents fought off the initial assault until the Syrian army arrived to reinforce them. The Britain based observatory, which opposes Assad said the rebel attack seemed to focus on the hospital in the town, and rebels also desecrated churches and other Christian sites in the surrounding areas. President Assad has drawn support from Syrias ethnic and religious minorities, including Christians.
