Another busy day today. Not frantic just steady working. I am still working on updating all the the school childrens medical charts to include the assessment form and growth chart brought by our last medical team. Plus, there were a lot of supplies that had not been put away since they left so I worked a little bit on that. But the thing that kept me the busiest was the clinic patients. Most were school children with headaches, coughs, colds, and itchy eyes. The itchy eyes thing I can really relate to. The wind has been stronger the last couple of days. The dust that we normally have around the school has been increased by all the concrete mix and sand used for the roof. I wear glasses and I am somewhat protected but most of the children dont. I know as they try to read a chalkboard or even a book the dust in their faces can really irritate the eyes. Oh, and I had one little one with a cut on her finger. I cleaned the area with betadine, applied the antibiotic ointment and a bandaid and prayed it would not get infected. Ive seen some pretty nasty infected toes and fingers here so it is always a concern. I think there was about 8 that came to the clinic today. Some were really sad because they didnt find that guy they were used to seeing there. They will miss him as will most of us. His medical ability was nothing compared to his love and concern for each childs soul. My roommate and I have a new next door neighbor too. With the departure of one man, the room only remained empty a day. Change. Yesterday is never the same as today or tomorrow. The new man on the block is our new maintenance person. A very bright and energetic young man that we have all become friends with. He is a welcome addition to the family. We will continue to miss and hold dear in our hearts the two we have lost. I wish them the very best future and hope to stay in touch and revisit as often as the Lord allows. One thing for sure....I know we will spend a really really long time together one day and there will be no goodbyes. Thank you Jesus for making that possible.
