Another busy night on site tonight. A huge thanks to all our amazing volunteers and chefs that cooked, did pick ups, served and finished service while Gen had to attend to a family situation. A big feast of curry sausages and rice, chicken parmi pasta, fried rice then a huge array of desserts. Trifle, custard tart, mud cake, donuts and a few other yummy treats. Again ice blocks cooled everyone down, even Ms Bella enjoyed a lime ice block. Toiletries and grab n go packs were given out. Everyone seemed happy tonight and the meal disappeared quickly. Thanks to the Curd and Smith familys for their donations tonight and to all those that have made donations over the past week. Tonight we had a new patron, an older gentleman who has found himself on the streets and in a spot of bother. We gave him some food hampers and a blanket while we listened to his story. A story that ended up tearing up our hearts when we realised that this mans family and the Jagts/Neal family go way way way back. As to keep his privacy I cant go into the full story but his family was one that has been part of Penriths history, ground breaking in the very field we work in and he now finds himself on the other side off. It was a true reminder of just how life can turn and how quickly. A beautiful man that we, the Jagt/Neal family, will go that little extra mile to assist if we can. PIF will be having a rest day tomorrow before a fortnight of patron advocacy with a few different departments, homeless hub and hub steering committee, a grant presentation, normal service and our 8 day catering job for the Wallacia Spiritual Development Centre that will raise funds to help us continue and improve our night time service. We are extremely proud of what we are able to achieve with your help. One of the most rewarding experiences has been helping a local student in his journey through the Max Potential Mentoring Program. Tom has been volunteering onsite for awhile now and has become a valued member of our team. Yesterday we were honoured to attended his showcase and see an overview of his experience and time with us. He has done his school, the program, PIF, his parents and most of all himself, very proud. Well done. Now its off to do the dishes
