Another case this morning where a child who has been in the care of her great aunt off and on for the last 12 years, finds out that social services are going to make the child a looked after child, not because there are any child protection concerns but because this is the only way social services can financially support the child. Children should not be financially better off in the public care system than living with their own families, and children should not become looked after to facilitate Trust budgets.
