Another contribution to Any Pink Rock, Gem, and Mineral for Breast Cancer Awareness Month IDENTIFICATION: Rubellite (Pink to Red Tourmaline) CARAT WEIGHT: 13.78 carats QTY. / CUT - SHAPE: 1 / Mix - Pendeloque (pear-shape) MEASUREMENT: 17.8 x 16 x 9.6mm COLOR / QUALITY: Pink / AAA+ CLARITY / TYPE: VVS1 near flawless / TYPE III TREATMENTS / ENHANCEMENTS: N (no evidence of any enhancements to this stone) ORIGIN: Zambia - Jagoda Mine CERTIFICATE / REPORT #:004462ZT COMMENT: Here is a very top end Rubellite (Pink to Red Tourmaline) where the gem rough was mined from our friends Clara Chan & Ross Walkers Jagoda Mine operation in the Mkushi pegmatite area of central Zambia, Africa. This really beautiful gem Tourmaline has an exceptional face up appearance & a very gemmy eye appeal with a beautiful cut, and a very highly prized pink color hue and tone. The enormous variety of colors in which Tourmaline is available is surely a major inspiration for some very talented designers and is the reason why Tourmaline is so highly prized by collectors, lapidaries, gem enthusiasts and alike (like me...hahaha). Zambia has been mining Tourmalines for many years, and the most renowned mine is the Hofmeyer Mine near Nyimba. Production there has dropped in recent years but occasionally some fine greens and deep reds are mined by local diggers/miners at this now abandoned mine
