Another crime story in the news- about a father who forgot his toddler son in a hot car. Tomorrow, there will be more stories like that. It doesnt matter about what exactly, as long as it is some type of murder or some other bad thing; as long as the reporters can put on that particular face we are all super concerned because we are the *good* people and the public can engage in the discourse of appropriate outrage. But guess what? Until, according to psychopathic values of the society, such things will be what gets primary attention, they will keep happening and affecting the minds. Because lets face it, people love that more than anything. It gives everybody a sense of identity - the good guys are us. Maybe our lives are not good, maybe we failed at the enterprise of effectively faking happiness, maybe our jobs are corporate b/s that suck our blood, maybe we have no money; but we can always have this comforting lie compensating for everything: I am the good guy, and I demand that which I imagine is justice, so please, show me more criminals and wrongdoers. Their job is to make me feel better. Do not give me volunteers for Meals of Wheels, do not tell me elementary school teachers are those thanks to whom I speak English, do not focus on positive, in other words: give me Ze Amerikan Psycho, and I shall be satisfied, I shall have my tasty spiritual dinner, and I shall rejoice at the thought of my righteousness.
