Another day, another pelagic trip... just back from another nice day out at sea. It was a quiet day, but I suppose one gets a little blase about these things and the passengers all seemed to love it... We had all the usual suspects including Shy, Black-browed, Atlantic and Indian Yellow-nosed Albatrosses, Southern and Northern Giant Petrels, White-chinned and Pintado Petrels, Sooty and Great Shearwaters, Wilsons Storm Petrel, Subantarctic Skua and Cape Gannet. Birding highlights included our first Sabines Gull of the season and a sprinkling of Black-bellied Storm Petrels, the major target at this time of the year. Other distractions included plenty of Cape Fur Seals, a small school of Long-beaked Common Dolphins, a single Brydes Whale, several Humpback Whales (including a breaching individual) and a distant large rorqual whale which may have been a Fin Whale, but was just too far to be absolutely sure about. Not a bad way to spend a day...:)
